The Kakawa Chocolate House is a specialty chocolate company offering Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican Mayan Aztec chocolate elixirs, 1600's European chocolate elixirs, and Colonial American & Colonial Mexican chocolate elixirs. I am a fan of chocolate; however, this type of chocolate packs a powerful punch and I almost didn't finish my small cup - sipping is the key.
Ken had the Aztec Warrior chocolate elixir: unsweetened 99% chocolate, herbs, flowers, nuts, spices, Pasilla de Oaxaca chili and Mexican vanilla.
[Info. Note: "Throughout Mesoamerica chocolate was primarily mixed with water and made into a highly spiced aromatic unsweetened drink. It was considered to be sacred and a favorite elixir of the rulers and warriors."]
I had the 1790's Jeffersonian chocolate elixir: 73.5% chocolate, raw unprocessed can sugar, nutmeg and Mexican vanilla.
[Info. Note: "Due to its expense, American drinking chocolate was simplified with less chocolate used. The drink became thinner and sweeter then European chocolate. Modern American hot chocolate is a direct descendent of this historic evolution."]
