Ken's Birthday Bash

Thanks to all who made it out to celebrate another year gone by in the Life-of-Ken. Since I didn't upload all the photographs here, Ken will give party-goers a link to where they can view/download all or any of the photographs. Ken, in true form, was the grill-man and cooked up hamburgers, hot dogs, and bratwursts. My carnivore now has a new project to work on, please check out EatTheMeat, a site that will be for recipes and cooking techniques focused on and round... MEAT!

Blow out that FIRE!!!
Just so everyone knows, it only took one big puff and they were out.

Morgenn, THE DJ, for the bag game.

The aftermath of the BAG GAME!
Thanks goes out to the Pricketts for bringing this beloved game.

The day had taken its tole on me; after a six-mile run, cleaning, and partying I was out for the count next to Morgenn.

Party Rockers!

Thanks to Ryk we will have to do a movie night
(BTW: love the wrapping job!).
Anyone for cotton candy cocoons?

Our pet iRobot named Omba did some cleaning for us afterwards.
Remind me not to ask him to clean the wool rug again.
Ken had to take him apart and clean him.

WTF

Ok, I normally don't do any rants on this blog, but this one is deserving of a post... Ken and I are at the pet store picking up goodies for the Brown Hamsta when we come across plastic aquarium plants on sale for 30% when you purchase three or more. We pick out three plants and head to the register. The plants don't ring up 30% off so the clerk has to go read the sale sign. When she returns she takes off 10% for each of the three plants and when questioned she explains to us that taking 10% off each plant is a better deal than taking 30% off the total price of all three plants... we asked for the manager and then received the appropriate discount.

Body Worlds

Yesterday, we (Ken, his Mom, and I) viewed the Gunther von Hagens’ BODY WORLDS 3 & The Story of the Heart exhibit at The Leonardo. The whole-body plastinates were a crazy sight; Ken and I liked the exhibits where they had performed plastination of the blood vessels. Just out of curiosity I read over the Donor's Consent Form for "Body Donation for Plastination"; it was very interesting.

2009!!!

We rang in the new year with friends playing Rock Band on the Xbox 360 and Star Wars The Clone Wars on the Wii. Everyone filled up on the potluck taco bar and sweets (thanks to everyone for chipping in!). At midnight we did a cheers, blew noisemakers, pulled confetti poppers, and kissed our loved one. I am sure 2009 will be a good one; Happy New Year!

Our Hobbling Hobbit had such cute elf ears!

For some reason the words Starsky and Hutch come to mind.

B-R-A-I-N-S, we need your B-R-A-I-N-S...

1 minute and 32 seconds until the new year!

Too much fun = being dead tired.

Tier One Holiday Party

The Tier One Holiday Party was a blast. We send thanks to the Evans for hosting! (I want your white chili recipe Maegan.) I included some pictionary photographs below; it was a battle of girls vs. boys, with the girls winning of course.

Morgenn, Michelle, and Forrest.

My new HARLEY QUINN hat!!!

The Sasq's drawing of Wichita, Kansas. The girls thought they had the boys stumped on this one, but Ken was able to score for the boys.

The Yeti deep in thought.

Matt next to a drawing of himself.
Our first guesses for this one were 300 and Brad Pitt.

My drawing of the Evans family.

Maegan's drawing of Joseph Stalin.
Poor Maegan also had the privilege of drawing Eli Whitney.

Oh-yeah, we're ready for some cake.

Ken with Barack Obama

While at the Dulles International Airport Ken had his picture taken with Obama; both parties appear very upbeat.

Smithsonian National Museum of American History

We visited the Smithsonian National Museum of American History with Ken's folks. After 2 years and a renovation, the museum had just reopened. I had visited the museum in 2003 and at that time the museum was displaying the flag that was unfurled from the roof of the Pentagon a day after 9-11-2001; the flag was an amazing sight. I included the 2003 photograph I took of the flag below. This time we had the opportunity to see The Star-Spangled Banner; photography was not permitted in the exhibition.
