Hamsta in the ICU

Hamsta is usually a go-go, movin', cruzin', little-ball o' fur. However, he has recently went from 100% to almost zero. He has been extremely lethargic since last Saturday and had recently shown signs of being cold to the touch, shaky/unsteady, and packing away gross amount of food in his cheeks. Today we took him into the veterinarian and he was placed into their ICU to receive fluids and injections. We miss him and we hope that he makes it back home (it's too quiet without his running wheel squeaking).

I'll take some dirt & rocks with that motorcycle.

Saturday we met up with friends to do some outdoor recreation at Fivemile Pass, which is southwest of Fairfield. I gave Rich's Yamaha 125 a go and had a great time. I need a lot of work (turns, stopping, big hills, etc.); I only ended up eating dirt twice. For our last ride, I was glad that Michelle let me hitch a ride on the back of her four-wheeler (I was so wore out). We also managed to find a geocache while out riding (GC11N89 - The ruins at Topliff).

Deer on Iron Horse Blvd.

I snapped a few photographs of deer (two bucks and one doe) near our house this morning. We didn't see many deer this winter, but this is a reminder that even in the day-light they are still around in the area.

MINI + WORK

The MINI has been leaking a small amount of radiator fluid so the Hubby took the car apart. After the work was said and done, the result was:
  • Coating the garage floor in radiator fluid...
  • Cleaning the garage floor...
  • Me accidentally leaving the key in a position where the car isn't ON but somehow sucking away battery life...
  • Discovering that the MINI will not even attempt to start with a low battery...
  • Purchasing a battery charger (and of course charging the battery)...
  • Searching for a leak...
  • Not finding a leak...
  • Purchasing a steam cleaner...
  • Cleaning the engine (why not, the car was already tore apart)...
  • Reassembling the car...
  • ZOOMING (without overheating or leaking)...
THE END.

A little post about the Hamsta...

Saturday we needed to do a Petco run for the Hamsta.
A trip for hamster food resulted in buying a few extras...

Before...

...After.

Oh glorious cleanliness!

Happy Hamsta.

B-Day Par-Tay

Here is a few photographs from my Birthday get together. We had guests bring their own pizza crust and we provided all the toppings. In addition, we picked up a Black & White cake from Gourmandise (formally called The Bakery) - it was true gluttony. Ryk brought The Bag Game - YAHOO, it was great fun! Thanks all!

You stole my outfit!

Friday was a day of copy-cats; Nathan and I wore the EXACT same FDA shirt and Matt decided that he too would be dressed in green and blue for the day.

What have I been eating?

Here are some pictures of what I've been eating in Denmark - it is definitely YUM!

Louisiana - Museum for Moderne Kunst (Modern Art)

Last weekend, I visited the Louisiana Museum in Humlebæk. While there I saw the Max Ernst Dream and Revolution exhibition; I also saw some works from my favorite American pop artists (Warhol and Lichtenstein).

Louise Bourgeois - Eyes (1997) - yes, they look like boobs.

Works by Alexander Calder in the Sculpture Garden.

Henry Moore - Two Piece Reclining Figure No. 5 1963-64.

Big Thumb (1968); this bronze thumb is modelled after the thumb of its creator, French sculptor César Baldaccini.

Missing you all!

Three more work days and then I will be homeward bound (great Simon & Garfunkel song btw). I purchased a web-cam here and have been able to see/talk with people back home, which has been wonderful! I took a few screen-shots of Ken with Hamsta and Domo (see below). :)

Vikingeskibsmuseet in Roskilde, Denmark

Below are photographs that I took while touring the Viking Ship museum in Roskilde. Here is a little tidbit of information from the museum's website: "The five ships on display in the Viking Ship Hall were scuttled to form a blockage in the Peberrende, a natural channel in Roskilde Fjord near Skuldelev, some 20 km north of Roskilde. That is why they are known as the Skuldelev ships. They were excavated from the sea bed in 1962."

The museum from a distance.

The ships in the front of the museum are reconstructions.

Another pic of Skuldelev 1.

The following pictures regarding the gods were taken for the Densleys. (Missing and thinking of you and your dogs!)

The Sea Stallion (a reconstruction of the 30-metre-long Viking warship, Skuldelev 2). During the summer of 2007 the Museum sent this ship from Glendalough on a long voyage from Roskilde to Dublin; in the summer of 2008 the ship returned to Denmark.
