Independence, MO

The first museum I visited during my detail in Kansas was the Harry S. Truman Library & Museum in Independence, MO. The museum features some interesting exhibits and the Library's courtyard contains the graves of President Truman and his wife, Bess Truman.

[Info. Note: "On January 20, 1945, he (Truman) took the vice-presidential oath, and after President Roosevelt's unexpected death only eighty-two days later on April 12, 1945, he was sworn in as the nations' thirty-third President."]

The Library's courtyard.

Truman's office.

Truman House.
[Info. Note: "Built about 1867 by George Porterfield Gates, a mill owner. President Harry S. Truman and his wife, Bess Wallace Truman, granddaughter of Gates, made this their home from the time of their marriage in 1919."]

Community of Christ (formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) Temple in Independence, MO. This building was a crazy-amazing site to see!
