Yukata Festival - Himeji

Not many festivals were happening in Japan while we were there; however, one of the interpreters told us about the Yukata Festival in Himeji and joined us for festival street food. We were lucky, Himeji is only one train station away from Kakogawa. The festival was going full swing when we arrived and both sides of the street, from the train station to Himeji Castle, were lined with street vendors. We tried a lot of different food and Ken ended up with a stomach ache from eating too much fried food.

Festival attendees wearing Yukatas, summer kimonos usually made of cotton.

I believe these are sweet fish; later in our trip, we ate a fish like this whole.

Cucumbers on a stick... (shrug).

Takoyaki, a Japanese dumpling containing octopus; it was tasty.

Ken and Shimizu-san picking out beef wrapped rice balls.

Susan, Shimizu-san, and Ken.

Burgers, with the American flag of course!!!

Time to try some CUTTLEFISH!

Tuna!!!
