Information on Utsunomiya's Futaarayama Shrine: The shrine was erected about 1,600 years ago to the spirit of Toyokiirihikonomikoto, the founder of Utsunomiya. It used to be called Shimotsuke-ichinomiya, from which, some argue, the name of the city, Utsunomiya had been derived.

Torii - Shinto gate.

Chōzuya - fountain to purify oneself before approaching the main shrine.

Haiden - hall or worship or oratory.
